Favorite Places: Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills
Ever since I stayed at the Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills in 2003 I have been obsessed with this place. I have Googled it many times since then just to look at pictures and reminisce. I’m not sure if it was the sophistication of the hotel itself or my purpose for being in LA that left such an impression on my heart but whatever it was, I am dying for the chance to go back.
I stayed at the Avalon during a national bikini design competition hosted by Sunset Apparel through YM Magazine (remember it?) in which I was one of five finalists. It was quite the experience for a small(ish) town Kansas girl. My favorite part of the whole trip wasn’t meeting Anne Cole or even winning the whole competition. It was getting to spend time at this amazing hotel and listen to the nighttime partygoers complain that I (after making a quick run to my hotel room) walked right into the pool/lounge even though ‘my name was not on the list.’ I’ll tell you what, that was an awesome feeling! I decided that night that the designer who did this hotel was my new idol. Little did I know it was the one and only Kelly Wearstler! I actually didn’t learn this until my sophomore year of design school when I was flipping through a magazine and saw a spot on Kelly and the Avalon hotel. Props to Kelly and her amazing style!
I have pulled some pictures from the hotel’s website to share with all of you. From how I remember it, it looks as though the Avalon has gone through another facelift via Kelly Wearstler, but it’s all the more beautiful now! I hope you all love it as much as I do and if you are ever in LA, you should definitely stay at the Avalon.
Typical Room – I love the marble and muted color scheme

Cafe/Lounge & Bar – I am loving the Warren Platner wire chairs!

Pool/Lounge – the best place to spend an evening in LA!
